چکیده
The main goal of a presbyopic patient is to reduce dependence on optical aids and improve both distance and near vision as well as the range of clear vision. Several studies report good safety, predictability, and efficacy outcomes in the implantation with monofocal, toric and multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) after refractive lens exchange (RLE). Patients with hybrid spherical IOLs show good distance and near visual acuity with some restrictions at intermediate distances, and visual complaints regarding glare and haloes. Aspheric IOLs were designed to introduce negative spherical aberration to compensate for the positive spherical aberration of the cornea. These new IOL designs with aspheric profiles were developed with the goal of reducing unwanted visual phenomena associated with multifocal IOL performance. Preliminary reports show good distance and near vision as well as functional intermediate vision. The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy, safety, and predictability in patients who had undergone bilateral implantation of the AcrySof® ReSTOR® SN6AD3 IOL in the capsular bag after RLE.

Contrast sensitivity after refractive lens exchange with a multifocal diffractive aspheric intraocular lens.
PURPOSE To evaluate distance and near contrast sensitivity (CS) under photopic and mesopic conditions before and after refractive lens exchange (RLE) and implantation of the aspheric AcrySofReSTOR (SN6AD3 model) intraocular lens (IOL). METHODS Seventy-four eyes of 37 patients after RLE underwent bilateral implantation with the aspheric AcrySof ReSTOR IOL. The patient sample was divided into m...

The outcomes of a prospective consecutive study aimed at evaluating the visual and refractive benefit after cataract surgery with the implantation of the aspheric diffractive multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) Tecnis ZMB00 (Abbott Medical Optics) are reported. A total of 31 eyes of 19 patients (age range, 40 to 81 years) underwent phacoemulsification surgery with implantation of this aspheric mu...
متن کاملEnergy balance in apodized diffractive multifocal intraocular lenses
The energy distribution between the distance and near images formed in a model eye by three different apodized diffractive multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) is experimentally determined in an optical bench. The model eye has an artificial cornea with positive spherical aberration (SA) similar to human cornea. The level of SA upon the IOL, which is pupil size dependent, is controlled using a ...
متن کاملLight scatter and disability glare after intraocular lens implantation.
F orward light scatter measurement provides information about optical imperfections as the cause of glare disability. Glare disability refers to a reduction in visual performance caused by a glare source, resulting in retinal contrast loss secondary to intraocular stray light. Lens extraction reverses the strong age increase in stray light, which is considered an independent source of symptoms....
